March Homeschool

Thanks to the Wallermanns, we got to spend Fridays at the ice arena, learning to skate!  The kids did a great job and by the end of March, Nolan and Livi were both skating without needing a walker!

It has been the strangest winter - seems like summer already!

We celebrated Adler's birthday with a pajama/movie party!

A highlight of the year was our Midsummer Night Dream play!  We did this in conjunction with our book, "Midsummer's Mayhem."  The play is originally by Shakespeare and features 4 lovers who get all mixed up after a fairy puts a magic spell on them.  A man even turns into a donkey!  The kids practiced really hard and I was so impressed with how seriously they took it.  Nolan played Bottom, the donkey man, Olivia played Hermia, one of the 4 lovers, and Simon was part of the theater troupe.  It was so fun to watch their confidence soar and give them the opportunity to learn more about Shakespeare and performing!

We began the book, "The Lion of Mars" and spent a lot of time studying space.  We did lots of space themed art projects and the kids each chose a planet to do a lapbook report on.

Paper bag puppet shows have been a hit lately!
