May Homeschool

Our kids had quite the exciting showcase for their co-op!  They practiced their watercolor techniques, performed with their classes and choir, and Olivia was even an emcee! Afterward, we had dinner and a dance.  All of the kids had a blast, but watching Simon on the dance floor was SO fun.  He was so enthusiastic and had amazing dance moves.  It was a fun family evening with our friends!

While I was in Tampa, FL for my Weisenbeck Grandgirls trip, Olivia went to spend a few days with my Mom. She went out for dinner, rode Bindy, and made an AWESOME taco shaped cake for Everett's birthday party!

Nolan is feeling pretty proud, because we let him ride his bike to Blain's Farm and Fleet to use his own money to purchase some candy....a big leap in independence!

Nolan rocked his first ever cello recital!  He played "Long Long Ago" with Mom on the piano.  It was beautiful and I was so honored to share his first ever recital solo with him.  He also played several pieces with his string quartet, and was featured on a solo in "Ode to Joy."  He did such a wonderful job and plays with such fantastic musicality and intonation.  We are so proud of him!

I received these amazing cards from my kids for Mother's Day.  We had a low key day, as Nolan was under the weather, but Liv and Simon and I planted fairy/dinosaur gardens.  I am so thankful for the privilege of being their mother.

Olivia performed an awesome hip hop dance routine to "Look What you Made Me Do" by Taylor Swift for her spring recital.  She has definitely improved in confidence and ability over the course of the year and we had a blast cheering her on!  Way to go, Liv!

Playing "Don't get the Bean" (Simon's made up card game) is always an adventure!

Our Ancient Egypt unit was so fun!  We learned all about hieroglyphics and wrote them on actual papyrus.  We made paper mache cat sarcophagi for our cat mummies.  We molded cartouches (name plates) out of clay, carved our names in hieroglyphics, and painted them.  We learned all about culture, the gods and goddesses, and pyramids.  We had an awesome party at the Wallermanns where we did an Ancient Egypt escape room.  The kids did a great job solving all the riddles.  We loved our book, "Ra, the Mighty Cat Detective" and look forward to reading the other books in the series!

And just like that, school's out for the summer!  I sure love every moment of learning alongside these beautiful, amazing kiddos.  Growing, learning, thriving.

We went out for dinner and ice cream to celebrate Nolan's FIRST PLACE story at the state level.  His story was the best of all 3-5 graders in the state!  We are so proud, Nolan!! Way to go!

Simon made his own world map of all the continents!

We love our trips to Wausau with Grandma!
