October Homeschool

Our first book of the year was "The Beatryce Prophecy" by Kate DiCamillo.  We focused a lot of our studies on the Medieval Time period, completing some awesome projects like making illuminated letters with gold leaf, stained glass window suncatchers, and a feudal system diorama.  They learned so much and we had so much fun!

We had a fun day visiting the Foats farm in Gleason.  They had a blast playing outside, especially on the big round haybales!

Shaylee turned 10 and they had a fun birthday party with just the girls!  They made cupcake suncatchers, as well each of them got to decorate their own cake.  They had a blast choosing their frosting and design elements.  I'm so thankful my daughter has such sweet friends!

I finally got to see the Northern Lights, and what a show it was!

Trying out our axolotl Halloween costume.

Grandma grew pumpkins at the greenhouse again this year and it's always fun to go pick them out!

Olivia and Simon made these adorable fall art projects. Olivia's used chalk pastels and tempera paint on sulfite paper to make a sweet Halloween kitty.  Simon used watercolor and salt to make the background for his sulfite paper crow and tempera paint leaves.

Origami with big sister's help.

Nolan and Olivia also worked on these beautiful art projects featuring oil pastels and various watercolor techniques.

This piggy of a squirrel ate the pumpkin we got from Grandma Patti.  He was so big, and he really, really, really enjoyed it.

We did a collection of Halloween experiments with our buddies, measuring pH, making predictions, and changing colors of solutions.  It was super fun!

Helene's

It was a cold and rainy day for our Helene's visit this year, but it was still a fun morning.  Their bakery is top notch and there were lots of delicious apples and fun things to play!
