Orchard and Laura Ingalls Wilder Days

With our Prairie unit study coming up in October, I thought it would be fun to take the kids to her birthplace of Pepin, WI for their annual Laura Ingalls Wilder Days.  They had all sorts of activities for families to learn about pioneer life.  The kids loved the petting zoo, watched the parade, made 9 patch quilt blocks, threw axes, watched a cooking demonstration, and saw all sorts of other handicrafts.  We got to visit a replica of her cabin, built in the spot where hers had stood previously.  It was a fun tie-in to our books and got the kids excited to learn!

While we were in the Eau Claire area, we also went to the apple orchard with Grandma and Grandpa and while we were there, Everett and  Leo happened to be there too with their nanny!  It was a fun surprise and we loved the opportunity to see our cousins!
