Olivia has been working hard in her first semester of dance classes. She has been taking Hip Hop classes all fall and just had her first recital. She performed beautifully and confidently and we were all so proud of her! Way to rock something new, Livi!
The kids made these adorable Ted Harrison inspired polar bears with liquid watercolors and oil pastels. They are all becoming such wonderful artists!
The kids were proud of their hard work at co-op this semester and showed it all off and their winter showcase. The did paintings, modeled birds out of clay, performed with their voices and with boomwhackers, and wrote poetry. We are so proud of them!
We did a science fair for our Wild Robot party. The kids each chose a project, designed the experiement, and presented the results. Nolan tested the effects of different types of soda on teeth. He used calcium tablets and four different types of soda - Coca Cola, Mountain Dew, Fanta, and Sprite. He measured how long it took for the tablets to dissolve. He discovered the Coca Cola was the most corosive and dissolved the tablet first.
The Kohnhorsts came over and the kids did a scavenger hunt to find the treasure - chocolate chips for making chocolate chip cookies! We talked about how chocolate chip cookies were invented and then baked them together. It was a blast!
Eric had a day off and the kids really wanted to take him to ArtStart to see the art galleries. After looking around and taking it all in, they each completed the questionaire and each got to take home a prize.

Olivia's science fair project was titled, What is the Dirtiest Place in a Home? She used a sterile Qtip to swab several "dirty" areas - the toilet, the tub, a tablet, a computer mouse, and the refrigerator ice tray. We then gently rubbed the Qtip onto the agar in a petri dish. We were very surprised that the toilet grew virtually no bacteria, but that the tub and refrigerator trays were loaded! She presented her findings at our Wild Robot party.
