April Homeschool

In April, we visited City Hall with the 4H group and got to meet several of the city officials.  We were given a tour of all of the different offices and their purposes, as well as the city council meeting chambers.

We've been taking nightly walks/bike rides around the neighborhood.  All of their skills on their bikes have improved so much!

We began our study of Ancient Egypt and used air dry clay to make a cartouche - a name plaque that would traditionally be buried with mummies to identify them.  The kids carved their names into them in hieroglyphics.

My very own Pooh Bear. <3

We made these awesome Ancient Egyptian art projects by tracing images onto embossing foil and coloring them in with sharpies.  They turned out so cool!

Simon's scissor skills have improved tremendously!

Look at these cakes they made for the 4H Creative Arts Expo!

Our Homeschool Co-op took a field trip to Kovac Planetarium in Crandon. The owner built the entire wooden dome himself, painting on each individual star and designing it to rotate! It was so cool!

Jessica helped Simon make these adorable Pharoah crafts for our Ancient Egypt unit!

Homeschool outside is the best.

Simon was trying to catch a spider, so he asked for a piece of ham to put on his stick for bait.

Paddling their boat!

The kids participated in their first ever 4H Creative Arts Expo.  They did such a great job!  Olivia took a sewing project (a skirt she made), a cake she decorated with fondant, and a painting she made of a squirrel in a tree.  Nolan took a cake he decorated, a painted paper collage of a bear, a marker drawing, and a piano solo (18th Century Dance).  They presented each project to a judge and received feedback to help them learn.  They did amazing work. We are SO proud of them!

These two lovely ladies had a great evening out at Culver's and Hobby Lobby with their mamas.  So thankful for their sweet friendship.

We loved our Lion of Mars novel study and really enjoyed learning all about space.  We celebrated with a party at church, making solar system bracelets and galaxy snowglobes.  It was a blast!

Nolan finished his math book!

Olivia's engineering class at co-op did an egg drop.  Her egg survived!

Olivia finished her math book!
