August Summer Fun

Livi and Simon have spent lots of time dressing up and playing together.  The princess and the monster has been a favorite.

Simon has discovered his Olaf robe (handed down from Nolan and Livi) and it is his favorite.  He wears it all the time.

Simon has figured out how to climb the ladder of our playset all by himself.  He loves going down the slide, but goes feet first on his tummy so he can use his hands to slow down.

I taught myself how to french braid this summer...a skill I never thought I'd have!  It's not perfect, but I'm feeling pretty proud!

These two are just the cutest brothers.

Not a big fan of waking up after naptime.

Still using the pool many days out of the week!

Playing dress-up and having tea parties have continued to be favorites of Simon and Olivia this summer.  Here they are using a tea set that I had as a little girl.  (Shortly after this, the box was dropped and the whole set broke.)

We try to make one-on-one time for each of the kids, as we're able.  Livi really likes to go to the coffee shop with mom and take our fancy drinks to overlook the lake at the park.  After this we went to the dollar store to pick up some things for Grandma Marcia's birthday party.

Simon really likes to snuggle in mom and dad's bed, as well as pretend to use a computer (baby monitor).

Livi started a collection of nature items and classified them into different categories.

Nolan used his Pokemon cookbook to make this Diglet Potato Field dish out of hotdogs, potatoes, and kidney beans.

On one of the most beautiful days of the summer, we took the story stroll in Hodag Park to read "Turkey goes to School."  The kids got to play on the playground and we all had such a good time!

Winona Horse Show

Mom's new horse, Bindy, has been super fun.  She and Mom have had a really successful show season so far, and I was excited to join them in Winona to help out and cheer them on.  Bindy is really quiet and laid back.  She is easy to get ready and is a perfect fit for Mom.  They had another great horse show, getting great placings in showmanship, pleasure, and horsemanship and even trying out bareback and egg and spoon for the first time!  We stayed on site in the camper, which worked out pretty well aside from the major storms that rolled through at night.  It was a little nerve wracking being in the camper while the wind howled and rocked it around all night.  The barn aisle even flooded a little! We didn't get a lot of sleep, but it all worked out okay.  It was fun to have some special time with just Mom and to see how much she's grown as a rider this year!
