COVID-19 Day 59

I'm sure as time goes on, it will be hard to remember some of the way things were during this pandemic.  Here are some stats to help us remember!

- Schools have been closed since March 13th.  There is a possibility schools will not reopen fully for fall of 2020.
- Many are working from home while helping kids with online classes.
- Only "essential" retail stores are open such as grocery stores, hardware stores, and pharmacies.  Amazon delivery is averaging 3-4 weeks, when it used to be 2 days.
- There are tape lines on floors inside stores to encourage people to stay 6 feet apart.
- Bars/restaurants are open for take out/carry out only
- Playgrounds are closed. No visitors allowed in hospitals.
- Hair salons are closed.
- All major, minor leagues sporting events have been cancelled.  The NFL draft was done virtually.
- All festivals, fairs, and entertainment events are banned.
- Weddings, family celebrations, and graduations have been cancelled.  Funerals are limited to 10 people graveside.
- People are doing drive-by parades to celebrate birthdays.
- No visitors allowed in nursing homes.
- Shortage of masks, gloves, and other protective equipment in hospitals and clinics.  Heathcare workers are getting one mask to use for the entire week.
- Church services are cancelled.
- People are wearing masks, and some places require it.  There is a shortage of materials to make them, especially the elastic for the bands.
- There are food/supply shortages.  Toilet paper, hand sanitizer, cleaners, soap, antibacterial wipes, flour, yeast, bread, eggs, and meat are often are to find.  If you can find, there are limits and the selection is extremely limited.
- Stores close early (even 24 hour ones) to allow ample time for disinfecting and cleaning
- Store check outs have installed plexiglass shields to protect the employee/customer.
- There are not enough COVID-19 tests.
- Leisure travel is shut down. Disney is closed.
- All colleges campuses are closed with students doing online classes
- Society is divided about whether or not to remain closed or open up, with the largest concern being the tanking of the economy.  It is an election year and the political arguing is intense.
