Grampa's Farm

Saturday was Grandma Patti's birthday, so we decided to celebrate by heading down to Grampa's Farm in Merrill.  Normally my parents would meet us there too, but because my grandparents have been so sick, they weren't able to make it.  It was the most beautiful sunshiney fall day, and Grampa's Farm delivered lots of fun, as always.  The kids had a blast getting up close and personal with all the different animals.  This year, Livi was even feeling pretty brave and willingly walked up to many of the different animals.  She especially liked the cow, ducks, and the bunnies.

We spent some time in the barn making corn husk dolls, sling-shotting apples, and washing clothes with their antique washing machine.  The kids also both got to ride a horse.  Livi had an epic meltdown when it was time to get off...she gets to go as long as she wants at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

We finished out our time at the farm with a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch, where each kid got to pick out their own pumpkin.  We love Grampa's Farm and can't wait to do it again next year...hopefully with all the grandmas and grandpas!

When we got back to Rhinelander, the kids each picked out their pumpkins from Grandma and Grandpa's garden.  They managed to grow some giant ones this year, and the kids each got to pick a nice one to carve.  Later that evening, we had the whole crew over to celebrate Patti's 61 years with some homemade Pad Thai and poppyseed cake.  We're grateful for her and the blessing she is to our family!
